  • William Wilde Zeitler-Composer and performer of music for the Glass Armonica, a instrument invented by Ben Franklin: calendar of performances, sales of CD's, instrument info. Ben Franklin's favorite invention was a musical instrument called the "glass armonica". Mozart and Beethoven composed for it, and Franz Mesmer -- the pioneer of hypnotism -- used his to "mesmerize" his patients. But it was banned around 1810 because it was so beautiful it "woke up the ghosts".
